Notes...Invivo, a boutique premium New Zealand winery that started as an idea in London between two New Zealand old school friends.

Intense tropical fruit on the nose with clear notes of papaya, grapefruit and passion fruit, underpinning the high notes are limes and fresh cut capsicum. Fresh zesty acidity hits the palate and operates as a platform for the fruit to evolve. Full texture and balancing sweetness complete the palate and leave refreshing tropical notes.

Occasions... Perfect at home as your preferred tipple. Also makes an excellent choice when out and about at friends or restaurants. Won;t let you down anywhere.

Food...Vegetarian, Salads, Cheeses, Fruit, Fish, Shellfish, Chinese, Pasta

Tosh Says...This small, boutique made Savvy has quickly become one of my staples as far as NZ wines go. Exceptionally priced in the quality versus value stakes, this should be one of the whites living in and around your fridge and ice buckets this summer coming. Seriously - if it was under a highly marketed brand with a big budget you would be paying twice as much!

Palate is instantly mouth-filling with a solid core of sweet cherries and hint of toast. Silky tannins help complete the palate and the finish is long and sweet. This wine is instantly appealing and varietal and will also reward cellaring.

Tosh Says... One of my very favourite brands to emerge over recent years. We aren't talking just good wines here - we are talking exceptional wines. Found this a ripper. It ain't cheap but you pay for what you get. If you happen to let the moths out of the wallet for 6 bottles of this it will be the best 6 bottles you have purchased in ages!

Notes... The nose offers perfume of pears, quince and subtle candied fruit. The palate backs this up and sweet pear /fig dominating the fruit flavours and soft texture. The wine is silky and deceptively full bodied showing nice balance of sugar and acid leaving a clean and crisp finish that is not oily or cloying. A great lunch time wine that is versatile with many foods but will excel when paired with white cheeses, Caesar salads and chicken dishes in particular.

Occasions... Special events and dinners. Restaurants and BYO's. Makes a nice, lower priced gift as well due to the contemporary packaging and feel.

Food... Vegetarian, Chicken, Salads, Soft Cheese, Fruit, Salmon, Trout, Fish, Octopus, Shellfish, Chinese, Malaysian, Thai, Indian, Spicy, Pasta, Pork

Tosh Says... Invivo Wines are small, boutique wines of premium class and quality. I discovered these about a year ago and was floored with how good they were. i liked the labels, loved the juice and from there I became a follower. This wine is a cut above most others in this bracket - the mouthfeel and flavours the stand outs here.

PREMIUM SAVVY SPECIAL..!

2010 INVIVO... Fabulous wine that over delivers in spades for the price. Won a stack of awards and is on several airlines as in-flight wine - not easy I tell you! Fabulous tropical fruits; cutting edge acidity; drinking brilliantly now but will also age well. Seriously smart.

2010 BABY DOLL... Love the name, the look... but love the wine even more. Makes its way onto many wine lists this one indicating its class. I find it to be really lively and crisp. A little bit exciting in that it is a wine full of energy.Great value.

2011 HOLE IN THE WATER... The grapes - allowed to ripen slowly in their cool beautiful climate setting - create a standout example of Marlborough at its white wine best. Smooth, lingering, flavoursome.

2010 CATALINA SOUNDS... Pale lemon. Subtle floral notes mingle elegantly with citrus zest, creamy lemon curd and fresh Asian herbs. A textural long palate, with bright tropical and citrus notes, with a fine minerality and long balanced acidity which carries the flavours right to the end of the palate.

2009 LITTLE BLACK STONE... Hints of lemon, lime citrus, with fine minerality and classic Marlborough grassiness. The wine is beautifully balanced with a long clean finish. Fresh and almost too easy to drink.

2010 SKIPJACK... Ripe, tropical fruit aromas mingle with invigorating citrus tones across the palate. A superb balance of elegance and weight. Works perfectly with or without food.

2010 MOMO... Pale in colour, with a light green hue. Aromas of tropical fruit and citrus with a hint of minerality. The palate is textural and rich with ripe tropical fruit and grapefruit. The finish is crisp and dry.

2009 PEAR TREE... Passion fruit, pineapple, lemon lime, hints of green passion fruit skin. Tropical notes, showing pineapple, melons, just not quite ripe nectarines, good weight and nice crisp mouth feel.

2010 DOG POINT... Straw green. Intense yellow fruits and aromatic nuances of white flowers are integrated with a degree of minerality against a background of lees complexity. Unique full bodied sauvignon with considerable depth and complexity. The intense citrus and mineral flavours are complemented by a chalky textural lees influence resulting in a wine with concentration, focused structure and individuality.

2008 TURNING POINT... Very subtle wine that drinks easily with solid chilling. Perfect lighter style wine you wish to sip on a hot afternoon or as a glass when something is needed that you can like without having to think too hard about it!

2010 YEALANDS WAY... Super value wine. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc that displays all the traditional Marlborough attributes - tropical fruit, minerality, well balanced acidity - but surprises in the finish. Very attractive wine.

2011 TOKOEKA... Another incredibly well priced wine. Soft on the palate, with a nice, tight structure, the wine fills the brief when looking for something atypical of the region.

Premium Beauties...

TOSH SAYS... When I decided to put together a special 6 pack of Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs - and considering how many good (and similar) ones there are out there these days - I leaned towards those I am drinking right now. I try a lot of wines, not all good, and when it came down to it, the wines had to offer something a little more substantial than the middle of the road demons that are clogging up the wine highways of the world right now. This may be taste; class; price versus quality ratio, or all of the above.

So my very first hand picked 6 are below - enjoy them - I know I am!

PS... This is the DOZEN BUY - so you get 2 BOTTLES OF EACH and SAVE 30% INCLUDING DELIVERY!!!

INVIVO 2010... Fabulous wine that over delivers in spades for the price. Won a stack of awards and is on several airlines as in-flight wine - not easy I tell you! Fabulous tropical fruits; cutting edge acidity; drinking brilliantly now but will also age well. Seriously smart.

BABY DOLL 2010... Love the name, the look... but love the wine even more. Makes its way onto many wine lists this one indicating its class. I find it to be really lively and crisp. A little bit exciting in that it is a wine full of energy - not needing bubbles to be so! Great value.

SOHO 2020... If this wine was a person it would be someone seriously sexy, with a bit of vavoom! Voluptuous and fleshy of fruit; big on traditional tropical, Marlborough flavour but possessing a little bit of class to go with it. A real seductress.

MAVEN 2008... Now when you see that the vintage is a 2008 you are instantly going to think and/or remember every person who has ever said that Sauvignon Blanc MUST be drunk young. Right? Err-er... Wrong! It is true that some cheaper, inferior for aging Savvy's should be, but not single vineyard beauties like this baby. Single vineyard means it has all come from the on vineyard (obviously!). Many wines will come from the region but different vineyards - blended together to make a wine. Single vineyard wines are special in that they hold all the great things you love about particular wines & their regions - in almost pristine state. This wine is outstandingly good value... and yes, will age for another year or two yet!

LOBSTER PADDOCK 2010... The name conjures up all types of images. Important things is the vino. Is it any good? In a word - yes. In a second word - very! This is quintessentially bottled Marlborough. Passionfruit and tropical fruit come and go, as zesty acidity cleans the palate as a lingering finish has your brain telling your hand to move the glass to your lips and before you know it the process is repeating itself over and over and over again until you are sitting there with claws for hands and thrashing about your lobster tail in a New Zealand paddock. Phew! Really? I don't think it matters how much you guzzle of this little beauty - a lobster you will probably never be... but you will drinking the quality of the bets lobster meal - for a lot less dollars!

HEART OF STONE 2009... This made its way into my handpicked 6 as a bit of a bolter really. I wasn't sure what I was getting when the sample arrived, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with its complexity. 2009 vintage seems to be working for it. The wine is nicely settled but still holding its lovely tropical fruit characters. The acidity is there as it should be. Very pleasing drink overall and nicely priced to be a regular.

The Label...

Invivo invited iconic New Zealand fashion house Zambesi to design the beautiful and unique Invivo label. "The design was in part inspired by the face of a ship's compass-rose indicating the points of direction or navigation as the wines will be emanating from diverse wine regions within the country. It also seemed appropriate to symbolize a focal point of excellence which culminates in the art of the Invivo wine maker. So the mark also represents a coming together of the grapes, the vintner's art and the essence of Aotearoa- New Zealand. Like many symbolic marks there is more than one notion of reference."
Neville Findlay, Zambesi
