FRED & AUSSIE FRED...WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Firs, just so you know, FRED & AUSSIE FRED are made exclusively for and are BIG TIME WINE'S BEST SELLING WINES. Made to a very specific style & taste, these wines continue to stoke the imagination of wine drinking Australians everywhere.

The million dollar question though - what is the difference?

FRED is primarily a 'FRUIT DRIVEN RED WINE ' made from 100% Hunter Valley Black Shiraz. The entire process is overseen by Brian McGuigan - one of Australia's best known wine doyens.

Black Shiraz is the grape used - a name given because the actual fruit is left on the vine slightly longer than usual to ensure complete concentration of taste. What you are left with - once the grapes are crushed & wine bottled - is a beautiful medium bodied wine that is packed full of blackberry, black current and other berry fruit flavours. Very soft, mellow and almost too easy to drink. That's why it is our number one seller!

AUSSIE FRED is more a sweeter style red wine. Not dis-similar to Lambrusco in taste, Aussie Fred was originally produced for export. Off the back of this success we found more & more people asking for Aussie Fred back here in Australia, so we decided to offer him for sale here as well.

Confusing? Not really.

FRED is full of fruit, a soft and mellow red wine along slightly more traditional lines - just not as heavy as a lot of other red wines.

AUSSIE FRED is sweeter. If you enjoy wines such as Moscato, Lambrusco, or Fortified wines such as port - well Aussie Fred's sweetness is getting towards there. But he isn't as thick or heavy. Light on his toes, great on the nose and magic in your mouth!

Want to know another secret? Both of these wines are light enough to be chilled in summer. Just pop them in the fridge about 15 minutes before consumption. That's why they are our number 1 - because they can be sipped all year round - and that's before we even get to just how good they are price wise!
