G'Day... I'm Fred and thanks for dropping by to see me. I guess you need to know a little bit about me ...

Well I am from the Hunter Valley and am a Black Shiraz. Life in a bottle the winemaker says. A Black Shiraz is a wine that is made after grapes have been left on the vine a little longer than usual, helping provide plumper, juicier wine that is full of fruit and luscious flavour.

I love pizza, and barbeques, and nights laughing around the family table, but also like to think I am good company in quieter times. I dead set love a party too!

I like good books; long walks in the park; and cheering on my footy team. I guess I am pretty much, in many ways, just like you! Life in a bottle...

Aussie Fred Hunter Valley Shiraz (Dozen)
SAVE 42% - INCLUDES FREE DELIVERY IN OZ !!! (AUSFR12)

Region: Hunter Valley
Varietal: Black Shiraz
Vintage: 2009
Price Includes: 12 x 750ml Bottles & Free Delivery
Equates to: $5.83 per bottle including delivery
Alc Vol: 13%
Approx Standard Drinks: 7.7

Notes... Black shiraz (shiraz grapes left on the vine a little longer than usual to garner greater natural fruit taste). Soft, fleshy, supple. Lifted blackberry and sweet red fruits. Full mouth feel. Gentle tannin. A sweeter style red wine perfect for sipping.

Occasions... Most definitely a 'stay at home' or 'wander over to the neighbours for a barbie' wine.

Food...Pizza.Pasta.Red Meats. Fruit (when chilled).

Tosh Says... Aussie Fred was initially made for the export market. A combination of factors (including local popularity; higher Aussie dollar; and need for storage space) has meant that we have had to drop the price to below cost to clear. The wine is drinking well - especially for those that prefer lighter, sweeter Lambrusco style wines - and will chill nicely if desired. Get a case or two and use as your daily dose of red. At this price you'd be crazy not to.

CHEAP & CHEERFUL MIXED 6 PACK (6 bottles)
SAVE 39% - INCLUDES FREE DELIVERY IN OZ !!! (C&CM6)

New Arrival

I was asked to put together some table offerings where you could entertain yourself or others from start to finish.

What I have decided to do is create some offers across the CHEAP & CHEERFUL; SOMETHING A BIT SPECIAL & OUT TO IMPRESS levels. Hopefully you'll find something you like and helps get you through - no matter what the occasion!

CHEAP & CHEERFUL 6 PACK..!

ON ARRIVAL...
GOODWYN BRUT NV SPARKLING WHITE... When your guests arrive you should try and have a glass of sparkling in their hand as an APERITIF. An aperitif is quite simply a drink that helps your guests relax into the occasion and gets their palate and taste buds rolling. A medium dry style is traditionally best so this Brut NV is absolutely perfect.

ENTREE'S
2008 TURNING POINT MARLBOROUGH SAUVIGNON BLANC... Traditionally the domain of white wines, ENTREE'S or finger food time needs a white wine. Bubbles don't cut it at this point. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is the most popular in the world. This wine, subtle flavours, nice acidity balance will cut through the food and keep the palate fresh for the main course following. Excellent summer food match.

SPRING MOUNTAIN CHARDONNAY... Not everyone is a fan of the grassy, acidic Sauvignon Blanc styles. This Chardonnay is oaky and warm and will relax your guest no end with the slightly heavier style. Goes very well with bread, pasta and creamy entree dishes in particular.

MAIN COURSES...
2009 FRED... With our warmer climate - especially around major get together times such as the Christmas table - you don't want big overbearing wines in the middle of the day if you can help it. You want something with a bit of body, good flavours but doesn't make you want to hit the couch for a nap before Christmas lunch is even over! Enter our number one selling red wine - Fred. A Hunter Valley shiraz (a more subtle style in comparison with its Southern counterparts in particular), Fred is full of wonderful dark berry flavours yet has a medium body in a Merlot style. Very popular and perfect for what you need it for.

2008 MARLBOROUGH PINOT NOIR... Keeping the lighter style red theme going (for day time drinking in particular) I've thrown in a Pinot Noir from New Zealand's Marlborough region. Light, easy to drink and with no 'large-ness' to it at all, it is a wine that can start with the main meal food and end late into the afternoon with good conversation and relaxation time.

DESSERT
2011 BEELGARA MOSCATO... To round off the entire experience and to knock it out of the park, you'll need something to go with dessert. Normally this would mean a Dessert wine but as we are in the Cheap & Cheerful section right now, we needed to come up with an option that can do the job at the right price.

To this end, you can always replace a Dessert Wine with a Moscato or sweeter riesling. This Moscato has a light Frizzante (bubble) and good sweetness to help balance out the savoury of the mains. It will liven up the palate nicely through its general lightness. The lower alcohol in these wines (normally 6-8%) also means it will actually pick you up a little.

So there you have it. Your entire entertaining experience started and stopped with everybody raving for weeks about how good a day it was and how good a host/hostess you were. And all for under $60!
